Mission and values

Child and Adolescent Psychology Services is committed to upholding the rights of all its participants. CAPS aims to ensure that all workers are aware of and are upholding their duty of care to the best of their ability. Participants will always be made aware of all that effects their support. This means that CAPS will provide participants with all the information that relates to their supports and will assist them in understanding all information inline with their communication needs.

CAPS will ensure that they uphold their responsibility for privacy of information. All participants information will be kept secure through password protected programs that will only be accessed by authorized persons.

CAPS vows ensure that participants play an active role in the growth of the organization. All information that CAPS receives from participants will be taken into consideration and will assist the organization in evolving policy, procedures and general services so that participants receive the highest quality of support CAPS can provide. CAPS is glad to have input from its participants as information they provide gives the opportunity for learning and evolving as an organization.


Meet the Team

Sharon Muir
BA Ed (Primary), G Dip Psych, PG Dip Psych, MA Psych

Sharon is a registered psychologist with AHPRA with experience working as a psychologist in private practice and schools, as well as experience working as a teacher. She is committed to supporting young people and their families to achieve their goals in counselling and to benefit from positive outcomes. She works in a collaborative way with clients and uses a range of therapy processes based on an individual’s needs.

Sharon is one of our organisations founders and currently works as our resident psychologist.

 

Andrew Muir
BA Psych 

Andrew has extensive experience in the field of welfare and case management. Andrew’s knowledge, skill set, and professional practice are informed by his experience in the sector. He has held Senior Positions and Practitioner Roles in family violence and out of home care including Respondent Team Leader at the Orange Door, Family Violence Triage practitioner and Foster Care case manager. With the extensive skill set that he acquired throughout his previous position, Andy founded our organisation in the hopes of assisting children and young people with disabilities and in out of home care.

 

Jess Mckimmie
 
Jess has previously worked with CAPS as a Support Worker, giving her first-hand experience in working with children and young people in their everyday lives. She has now taken on the role of managing our NDIS sector, where she oversees our support coordinator and disability support worker divisions. Jess aims to promote a collaborative approach when working with NDIS participants through engaging with the individual, their family, and their extended support network to provide them with the best opportunity to achieve their goals.

Jess has also taken on the management of our Human Resources department. For any assistance you may need in regard to questions, issues, or complaints, she will be happy to assist.

 

Grace Rhodes

Grace has held multiple positions within our organization, providing her with an extensive skill set needed to work with children and young people. She currently manages our Out of Home Care sector, ensuring that our participants are receiving the best care possible. Her management of our support worker staff enables us to assign the best worker for each individual participant’s needs and ensure that we provide service continuity to the best of our abilities.
